The implementation of the automated EMR (electronic medical records) has profoundly increased the efficiency of the workflow in terms of delivering efficient healthcare services to the members of the public. The EMR allows interrelationship among the personnel of the different department in the facility, through constant and unblocked communication, resulting in the delivery of fast and effective medical and nursing services. The chances of the patients to get better faster are dependent on how the services are offered. The quicker and the more efficient the service is, the faster will the patient recover.

As it allows better and uninterrupted communication among departments and provides a legible view of the patients’ medical records. The EMR also prevents the occurrence of errors among the medical and nursing staff as the EMR is customized to cater not just the needs of the patients but also the staff who are the providers of care. Nurse’s notes and transcription of the doctor’s orders are made easy with the EMR. It also prevents the likelihood of committing errors as the EMR is customized with alerts that prompts the physician or the nurse if an erroneous data is entered or if the patient has developed an untoward reaction to the drug as stated in his past medical records.
The EMR software can adapt to the growing needs of quality and efficient medical services today, that’s why having an EMR software integrated in the healthcare setting is a must. The EMR does not only benefit the institution from increased return of revenues but the patient as well. Provision of healthcare services is done more efficiently and much faster compared to the conventional paper-based medical records system..
From immediate medical services to efficient documentation to proper dispensing of prescription medications, to increase in revenues, the EMR is indeed a useful tool in maintaining the success of the health facility in terms of saving and preserving lives.
